Our last experience of Animation

Today we have been discussing what our last animation experience was. Mine was the Disney classic Tarzan. Released in 1999, it is the first and only ever animated version of the character Tarzan. As well as this at it's time of release it was the most expensive animated film ever. 

The film was the first of its kind, Tarzan's production team developed a 3D painting and rendering technique known as Deep Canvas. This was the first time this had ever been used and was created by Eric Daniels. This technique works by allowing the artist to produce a CGI background that looks like traditional painting. It works by keeping track of paintstrokes applied in 3D space. For this creation the team was awarded a technical achievement award in 2003. 

Here is a three part video on the making of the film and how the animation team conquered such a mammoth task.

The third video is especially important as it shows us how a story board works and how crucial it is to the over all animated experience.

Today as a group, we discussed what we thought 'The learning environment' was. We were asked a series of questions which we had to answer these included

• What is a learning environment?

Diverse contexts, physical locations and cultures in which students learn.

• Where do people go to learn? What do those places look like?

Museums, libraries, schools, universities, the outside world, as you can tell no one area is the same; you can learn anywhere and everywhere

• How does the arrangement of a learning space contribute to—or detract from—the task of education?

It needs to be arranged in such a way that the learner is able to focus upon and engage in the subject area.

• So how important is the learning environment?

The learning environment is greatly important, but can vary depending on the learner themselves. Therefore the learning environment is some aspects needs to be fluid and changeable.

In pairs we answered these questions and then shared our answers with each other via a discussion thread on Moodle.( The link can be found herehttp://moodle.swanseamet.uwtsd.ac.uk/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=4991)

As you can see the answers although slightly varied, were in essence very similar
